Kaizer Chiefs’ rebuild for next season continues

After a two window transfer ban, South African giants Kaizer Chiefs have been busy in the transfer market where the process of squad rebuilding for next season has been taking place with a bunch of new signings and departures being confirmed by the club ahead of the new season.Although they inspiringly got to the finals of this season’s CAF Champions League final for a first time in their history, where they lost 3-0 to Egyptian champions Al Ahly, Chiefs endured a largely torrid spell in the domestic campaign that saw them barely scrape through into the top 8, finishing a whooping thirty one points behind record champions Mamelodi Sundowns.Chiefs announce contract extensionshttps://t.co/ZQp0WKw7he#Amakhosi4Life— Kaizer Chiefs (@KaizerChiefs) July 27, 2021 With returning head coach Stuart Baxter fully taking over, Chiefs have been determined to equip the manager with a squad fit to get back to its glory days. In the current open transfer window, the Soweto giants have already signed a number of players, activity that Amazulu head coach Benni McCarthy remarked as “buying everyone under the sun” in regards to the team’s transfer activity. After already confirming the signature of nine players, the club announced that it would be parting ways with seven of its players who are not in the manager’s plans for next season.“In order to make way for the new players and ensure that the coach and his technical team prepare adequately, Amakhosi will sadly be parting ways with some players who will not form part of the coach’s plans in the next season,” a club statement read.Among the names of players signed is former Mamelodi Sundowns ace Keagan Dolly who returns to South Africa after a largely unsuccessful campaign with French side Montpellier where he failed to make the desired impact.
