Eleven-time Kenyan champions Tusker are staring at the possibility of being locked out of the forthcoming CECAFA Kagame Cup should the organizers stick to the August 1 to 15 dates announced earlier. This is after the club confirmed that they had their eyes trained on winning the league as well as completing the season rather than participating in the regional Inter club competition. Football Kenya Federation (FKF) settled on the brewers to represent the country in the tournament set to be held in Tanzania. Already the Robert Matano coached club are in pool B alongside former holders Azam and South Sudanese side Atlabara which is home to several Kenyans – goalkeeper Lucas Indeche, Joseph Shikokoti and Lazarus Simba amongst others. Tusker sit at the apex of the log with 55 points, one ahead of the closest challenger KCB.“The federation is better placed to give the way forward in as far as our participation in the Kagame Cup is concerned as we are fully concentrated on playing our remaining league matches. (@PetaTabu) July 22, 2021 “We have requested CECAFA to move the tournament to after 21st August when our league (FKFPL) will be over but we are yet to get feedback,” FKF CEO Barry Otieno told Mozzart Sport, He added “Our (federation) priority is ensuring the league ends successfully and therefore if CECAFA doesn’t switch the dates, then we (Kenya) might not have representative in the Kagame Cup,” said the former Communications chief at the federation.
