Mwendwa: Fans will wait a lot longer to make stadium comeback

FKF President Nick Mwendwa insists that the federation will continue to uphold Covid-19 measures during clubs and national team matches.Since the pandemic was first reported in March 2020, fans have not set foot in the stadium as the government banned any gathering that would have led to the spread of the virus that has so far claimed over four million lives globally.Discussing the steps, the federation to contain the spread of the deadly virus, Mwendwa mentioned vaccination, Sanitization and barring fans from the stadium as some of the measures they have put in place.” We have put strict measures in place, we do not allow any fans in the stadium, only officials are allowed. We do fumigation, and sanitization. In terms of Covid-19 protocols, we have done so well. When the national team, Harambee Stars, is playing, we equally do not allow fans in the stadium. Hopefully next year fans will be allowed,” he said during the JKL show.FKF President Nick Mwendwa talking about fans, players vaccination, youth academies and match fixing in Kenyan football. He says they have vaccinated players in the FKF PL, NSL and WPL and as such frequent testing is not necessary as it is an expensive venture.“We have vaccinated all the players, and for that reason, we will only take tests at the end of the season. We no longer have to test them every week but before we vaccinated them, we used to test them and share the numbers. Once the government helped us vaccinate all Women Premier League, National Super League and the FKF Premier League nowadays we don’t need to test them because it’s an expensive venture and once someone is vaccinated, you don’t need to test them every time,” he added.
