Why Sempala ditched Tusker

A day after Tusker FC announced that Captain Hashim Sempala is leaving the club after the expiry of his contract, the midfielder has now been linked with a move to Zambian side, Kabwe Warriors. On Tuesday afternoon, Tusker released a statement confirming that the player was leaving with five matches left before the season comes to a close. This was Hashim’s second stint with Tusker, a side he first joined in 2016 and won the league and FKF Cup titles the same year. He would briefly join Gor Mahia in mid-2019 before returning to Tusker four months later.“We want to thank Hashim for his services and what he has offered to the club. We had a mutual conversation where he informed us of his intention to seek greener pastures after the expiry of his contract and as a club, we respected his decision,”“He has served us diligently and we will forever be thankful for his work and contribution to the success of the club. He starred for us as we won the double double in 2016 and we have many other fond memories of his time with us. We wish him all the best in his career and his endeavours as well,” Tusker chairman David Aduda said in a statement. From everyone at Tusker FC, thank you Hashim Sempala. The club wanted to complete his signing as soon as possible and that is why he could not wait for the season to end, he did not want to squander the opportunity to play in a top league like the ZSL,” the source disclosed.Mozzart Sport can now reveal that the midfielder is Kabwe Warriors bound. The Kabwe based club finished fourth in the just concluded league campaign and will play in the CAF Confederation Cup. They are thus beefing up their playing unit ahead of the new campaign.
