Posta Rangers assistant coach Collins Korea Omondi has revealed the tactic that worked magic against KCB as the Mailmen derailed the Bankers’ march to the title, scoring twice against the meanest defence in the league so far.A brace from Jackson Dwang ensured that Posta bagged all the points, curtailing KCB’s hopes of leapfrogging Tusker FC into the first place.Posta Rangers have been having a hard time converting the chances that they create, something that both Korea and head coach Stanley Okumbi have talked about several times.Korea, who orchestrated the win in the absence of Okumbi, talked to Mozzart Sport on the tactical change that he effected in this game that saw them come on top of title hopefuls KCB.📸| The mail men @posta_rangers with a massive 3 points over @KCBFootball What a match 🔥KCB 0-2 Posta#BKPL pic.twitter.com/fPpwkkU0Gh— Betking Kenya Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) July 30, 2021 The former Nzoia Sugar tactician said that he decided to try something different from the other games, leaving out strikers and opting to play with only midfielders upfront, a tactic that paid off.”We were playing fully with strikers and we were very creative but we were not scoring. So in this game, I came with the idea to play with midfielders and no strikers so that when the midfielders have the ball, the chances of scoring are high than a striker who does not score. “Against Bandari, we missed a number of one on one chances, sometimes even with an empty net but failed to score. So my feeling was to bring midfielders. I do not need to have strikers to play the game, I just need people who are creative and can think very fast. Decision-making upfront was the main problem. we changed that and scored two,” Korea said. The tactician added that he was impressed with his team’s performance defensively against KCB, a team that has scoring frequently, noting that shutting them out completely was part of their plan in the game. From everyone at Posta Rangers,We wish you all a Happy New Month.#WeAreTheMailMen pic.twitter.com/tmjf5YMOgk— Posta Rangers Football Club (@posta_rangers) August 1, 2021 He also added that they planned to score first and have KCB chase the game, which would in turn give them the spaces to hit on the break, something they did well for their second goal.”Defensively, I am proud of the team. KCB is a team that has been scoring goals so our main objective was not to let them score against us, and score first because they are a team that plays good football and are always looking for victory by all means. So our plan was to score first and have them chase the game as they looked for the equalizer, and we would use that chance to hit them back,” he added.
