FKF finally pay Gor Mahia Cup winnings, in cash

FKF Premier League side, Gor Mahia have finally received their FKF Cup winner’s prize money after days or prolonged exchanges between the federation and the club hierarchy.Gor won the Cup on 4th July but they were yet to receive the prize money as the federation had promised to wire the money by 5th August. Gor and Leopards had protested the delay in getting the winners and runners up money and they opted to skip Saturday’s Mashemeji derby that was to be played in Thika. In response, FKF fined the two clubs a total of Ksh. 10 million and suspended Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier and his AFC Leopards counterpart Dan Shikanda for two weeks. The federation has finally released the funds and Gor have collected theirs’ in cash. Club Secretary-General Sam Ochola collected the money on behalf of the club on Wednesday afternoon. Our former SG Chris Omondi had this to say when he saw a photo of Sam Ochola carrying cash in an envelope at the FKF office today “I can’t help but cry for my beloved club…how much longer can we justify mediocrity through different lenses? pic.twitter.com/lQwNwJ0bRa— Sally Bolo (@SallyBolo) August 4, 2021 The Gor official thanked FKF and requested that the tussle that has been there between the two parties be brought to an end. He also disclosed that the players would be given Ksh. 1 million from the FKF Cup prize money.“And I am here today afternoon at the FKF offices to collect our winning bonus, money from the FKF Cup. I have been issued with Ksh. 2 million right now which has been issued to me.I would like to thank FKF and at least today our players are going to be given their bonus, we had promised our players one million shillings from this money which they are going to get today,” he said. “We know that we have five more league games left and this money will go to preparing for the five games that are left and I would like to say thank you and we hope that the little bad blood that has been there between us and your office (FKF) we can bury the hatchet and we move forward,” he added.Ochola further admitted that they will have to accept the consequences of absconding from the derby.“In the constitution, it says if you don’t honor a match you lose points so I guess there’s nothing much we can do, we are sorry about what happened and we have to take the consequences as they come,” he concluded.
