Gor Mahia’s new head coach Mark Harrison is already setting his sight on next season’s CAF Confederation Cup campaign after his appointment at the helm of the club.Speaking to the club after his appointment, Harrison said that as cliche as it sounds, they will approach one game at a time heading into the qualifiers as they do not know their opposition yet.The former Chippa United tactician also noted that they will have to approach home and away games differently as the two are worlds apart more so when you are playing at the continental stage.he added that there is a need to plan adequately for away matches, saying that in those matches they will not be playing against the usual 11 players on the pitch as there is more than that for the team with the home advantage.”Obviously, you take every game as it comes. I know that’s an old cliche but you don’t know the opposition as yet. Once we know the opposition we have to take the game as it comes, plan for it home and away. Going into Africa is very different. When playing away it’s not just you playing against 11 players on the pitch, you’re playing against more than that and we have to be fully aware of that and plan properly for it. It’s two very different games playing away from home and playing at home,” the Englishman said.ICYMI: Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia appointed Briton Mark Harrison as their new head coach on a two-year deal replacing Manuel Vaz Pinto who departed the club last month#GorMahia #Sirkal #MarkHarrison pic.twitter.com/x0vNW9ka3u— Mozzart Sport Kenya (@MozzartSportKe) August 3, 2021 The 60-year old continued to say that navigating through to the group stages will offer the team the chance to plan in earnest for their opponents as they will be knowing whom they are playing next there, unlike in the qualifiers. However, even with the group stages offering that option, Harrison wants his team to concentrate on getting through the qualifiers first then cross the group stage bridge when they get there.”If you navigate through the first game you have to wait to see your opposition for the second game. The opposition varies, different countries across the continent, so you have to be very meticulous in what you do. You take it one step at a time. Until you get to the group, and then you automatically know who you are playing against and at least you can plan further ahead. Let’s get through the qualifiers first,” he added.AFC Leopards na Gor Mahia wamesusia kucheza Mashemeji debi mchuano wa Ligi Kuu nchini 🇰🇪 kama njia ya kuishiniza Shirikisho la soka nchini FKF wawalipe hela walizostahili kupata baada ya kucheza fainali ya FKF cup. pic.twitter.com/CcLJ3XPisU— Mozzart Bet Kenya (@mozzartbetkenya) July 31, 2021 Gor qualified for CAF CC after edging out arch-rivals AFC Leopards in the FKF Cup final on penalties in July.
