FKF Premier League side, Gor Mahia are set for an off-season mini-overhaul with the club looking to strengthen the squad in almost each and every position.Despite winning the FKF Cup, Gor’s 2020/21 campaign has been largely underwhelming and they currently sit in ninth in the FKF Premier League table with 40 points after 28 rounds of league matches, the team is out of the title race meaning we will witness a new champion this campaign. The team has also lost two players due to nonpayment of salaries owing to the team’s financial struggles. Kenneth Muguna left for Azam for free while Charles Momanyi terminated his contract and is reportedly heading to Tusker FC.Gor Mahia Secretary-General Sam Ocholla reveiving the KES 2 Million FKF Betway Cup prize money from FKF General Secretary / CEO Barry Otieno. pic.twitter.com/tlEsGDt3vW— Gor Mahia FC (@FCGorMahia) August 4, 2021 Club assistant coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omolo says they have to beef up the team for next season’s domestic competitions and the CAF Confederation Cup by the virtue that they won the FKF Cup.”We have to make signings and we are going to beef up in almost every position because we must have a stronger squad for next season’s campaign. As you know we will be playing in the CAF Confederation Cup and we also need to have a squad that will compete in the domestic competitions,”Pamzo told Mozzart. The former Gor Mahia defender further discussed the positions that are set for beefing up with the striking department their main concern.”We are going to add one more goalkeeper because one of our current goalkeepers will be leaving. We will also get one central defender, preferably a young one but who is ready to play. We will also sign two full-backs, one right and the other left, we will get two wingers, left and right and most importantly we have to sign strikers. We could get up to three because that’s a major weak area for us,” he added.
