Harris English is gunning toward PGA Tour career No. 5 after a strong start at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. English’s opening 8-under 62 at TPC Southwind in Memphis gave him a two-shot edge of a quartet of chasers after the first round.
The group on his heels include Jim Herman, Carlos Ortiz, Matthew Wolff and Ian Poulter, all in with 64. Among those men, Herman might be the most entertaining as he makes a comical bid for a bonus through the PGA Tour’s Player Impact Program.
