How Harrison’s pep talk helped Njau keep clean sheet on his Gor debut

After marking his Gor Mahia debut with a clean sheet, Samuel Njau has come out to reveal how the pep talk from coach Mark Harrison helped him deal with the lethal strikes from Kakamega Homeboyz forwards. Njau made his first appearance for the record Kenyan champions at the competitive level on Wednesday during their 1-0 win over Homeboyz at the Thika Stadium. The dreadlocked custodian disclosed that the newly appointed Gor boss told him to be confident in between the sticks and he did not disappoint as he made saves which saw the club cling on the slim lead to the final whistle to end their seven match winless run.The former Nairobi Stima glove man who joined Gor at the start of the season from Western Stima was superb in front of the goal and would deny Francis Omondi from the spot in the first half.Keeper Samuel Njau joins Gor Mahia FC. I played to his instructions and I am glad I helped the team get maximum points. Concerning the penalty save, I practice a lot in training and hence, it was easy to save Omondi’s kick,” he said. The custodian who had been bidding for his time to play thanks to the competition from Gad Mathews and the experienced Boniface Oluoch who has since been elbowed out of the club said the opportunity came as a reward to the hard work he had been putting behind the scenes. The former Sony Sugar man was reduced to a third choice when Oluoch mysteriously left as the club promoted Caleb Otieno from the youth team to deputize Mathews who was preferred to fill in the void left by the former Kenyan international.Kenya Premier League Transfer Updates Since there a possibility departure of Tanzanian David Mapigano, Gor Mahia have completed the signing of Samuel Njau from Western Stima FC #KPLTransfers📷 Courtesy Rodgers Odhiambo pic.twitter.com/SKiFWRajMQ— Marcello Omutiti Omuttaha🇮🇪🇰🇪 (@MOmuttaha) August 5, 2020 He says he had been putting in a shift which compelled his coach Jerim Onyango to give him the opportunity to make his debut.“I have been breaking sweat in training in anticipation for playing time.
