Vihiga United assistant coach Samuel Twago believes his team’s efforts of beating the drop are being hampered by fatigue resulting from the team’s long travel to honor matches.United, who are bottom in the FKF Premier League log after 29 rounds of league matches having been hosting their home games in Nakuru for over a month after sporting activities were suspended in Western Kenya due to the high number of covid-19 cases that were being witnessed in the region then. The team has had to travel for all their games and the former Soy United head coach believes it resulted in fatigue that is now threatening to send them back to the second tier.”I think fatigue is catching up with us, we have been traveling a lot because we have been playing in Nakuru, then back to Vihiga against Posta we were in Thika and I can say it’s taking a toll on the players because right now we need their energy for that one last push but they are slowing down,” he told Mozzart Sport.AFC Leopards SC 🆚 Vihiga United | Saturday 7th August | 3:15 PMCatch this match live on KTN BTV Ch.172/463Watch BKPL matches live on Nyota and Nova Bouquets for ONLY Ksh 299/- and Ksh 499/- respectively.Stream via StarTimes ON App: https://t.co/N0FPqDdF43#BKPL pic.twitter.com/ph8ikzcBUc— StarTimes Kenya (@StarTimesKE) August 6, 2021 Despite what looks like a looming relegation, Twago says they will fight to the end. They have league matches against AFC Leopards, KCB, and Kakamega Homeboyz and a minimum of two wins may guarantee their survival.”We however can’t give up, we have three matches to go and we will keep encouraging them to perform because we are fighting relegation and we cannot give up when we still have a survival chance,” he continued.Twago revisited the mistakes they have been making in games which he believes has resulted in their woeful run in the league. He pointed at the concentration lapse that resulted in them conceding a late winner to Posta Rangers on Tuesday.”Concentration lapses, loose marking, and our defensive organization off the ball has been bad. Like against Posta we had hoped to even get away with one point but we lost concentration in the last two minutes and they scored. So we are making some costly mistakes that are really hurting the team at a crucial time in the season,” he concluded.Next for Vihiga is a match against AFC Leopards.
