FKF Premier League side Sofapaka have begun reshaping for next season by letting go of five players who have been part of the team this campaign.Sofapaka have been woeful and currently sit 13th in the league with 33 points after 29 rounds of league assignments. The team has managed just eight wins all season.There bad campaign has largely been attributed to financial challenges that the team has been facing. The players and coaching staff have gone for months without pay.Coach Ken Odhiambo is already preparing for next season and he says they are trying out a new strategy which they intend to implement next season.”We are trying something new, we are trying to see if it’s going to work next season. We hope for the remaining three matches it’s going to work and then we can pick from there next season,” he said after Saturday’s defeat to Tusker FC.Among those shown the door is veteran striker Kepha Aswani. The former Nakumatt FC, AFC Leopards, Thika United Bandari and Al Nasr striker has been with Batoto ba Mungu for the last four years and has been let go after the expiry of his contract.Another player who has exited is Pistone Mutamba who rejoined the team in March 2021. Mutamba had signed a short term deal with the club that has since expired. The club opted against prolonging it.The club has sent former Nzoia Sugar striker Collins Wakhungu packing. The Sofapaka no. 7 still had a running contract but the club has terminated it.Amissi Bizimana has opted to terminate his contract barely since months after he joined the team. He has moved to Kiyovu Sports Club in Rwanda.Completing the list is Paul Kiongera who has opted to end his association with the club. He has since moved to court to sue for breach of contract.
