Inter Milan is in deep crisis on and off the pitch. The main reason is, as always, money. This was a well known fact even in May, when the club legend and vice-president Javier Zanetti announced that it will take years for the club to get on it’s feet. The fans understood that a number of first team players will be sold in order to balance the books, but nobody expected that the clubs’ star player Romelu Lukaku will be sold. But since it is almost certain that he will be back at Chelsea, Inter’s sporting sector is luring the president to buy at lest three more players, in order to calm down the fan base. Obviously if Inter makes us a proposal, we will evaluate it together with Duvan.” pic.twitter.com/CHLq38h1ZE— ENJOY INTER (@EnjoyInter) August 5, 2021 In a weird situation where Lukaku refused to leave and rejected Chelsea twice, while his agent, along with Inter, urged him to accept the offer, fans are obviously annoyed with the situation, so sporting director Beppe Marrota, along with Piero Ausilio held a conference with the owner Steven Zhang, urging him to sanction three transfers as soon as possible, knowing that the sale of club’s best player will cause fury. According to FCInter1908.it, the directors are also threatening to resign at the end of the transfer window if the promises of investment are not kept. Their primary targets will be two forwards and one wing-back to make up for Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi’s sales, and the names being mentioned are Denzel Dumfries, Duvan Zapata and Gianluca Scamacca. Two super-transfers to trigger a strikers domino effectDumfires has a contract with PSV Eindhoven until 2023 so he won’t come cheap, but the right wing back would be an ideal replacement for Hakimi. As for forwards, the situation will be even tougher, as they are always more expensive, and it is not known how much money will Inter invest after the Lukaku sale. First options are Italy Under-21 international striker Scamacca (on loan from Sassuolo with an option to buy) and Duvan Zapata from Atalanta.Directors also presented alternatives: Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina (thought to be even more expensive as he is only 21), and Edin Dzeko from Roma. Coach Simone Inzaghi expressed his desire to bring Joaquin Correa from his former club Lazio, but the price set by the Roma based club is too high. Will the president agree to any of these suggestions is yet to be seen.
