Tusker ended their back to back losing streak with 2-1 win over Sofapaka FC in an FKF Premier League match staged at the Ruaraka Grounds on Saturday afternoon. The Brewers had lost their last two games to City Stars and Bandari and in the process ceded the top spot to KCB. Against Sofapaka they had to come from a goal down to win. Sofapaka had a penalty appeal waved on in the sixth minute when Apollo Otieno appeared to foul Joe Waithira in the area. Referee Davies Omweno however ignored Batoto Ba Mungu’s appeals. Four minutes later, Rodgers Aloro forced Kevin Omondi to a huge save after curling his free-kick over the Sofapaka wall.The game slowly turned to an end to end affair with Sofapaka creating the better chances. One of the attacks resulted to a penalty in the 33rd minute.Joe Waithira danced his way into the area before he was brought down by Michael Madoya, and a penalty was awarded which Lawrence Juma scored for his 14th goal of the season.Tusker leveled matters in the 39th minute through Rodgers Aloro. A corner was taken which Sofapaka failed to clear and the Ugandan fired home with a first time volley.The start of the second half was equally balanced but unlike in the first half the chances were few apart.Tusker made their traditional second half changes in the 73rd minutes, introducing veterans Humphrey Mieno and Jackson Macharia and the pair would combine eight minutes later for Tusker’s second goal. Mieno set up Macharia for what proved to be the winner.Sofapaka resorted to long balls late on but Tusker defended well to win.
