Harambee Stars goalkeeper Farouk Shikalo has left Tanzanian giants Yanga following the expiry of his contract.#MICHEZO KATIBU Mkuu wa Yanga, Haji Mfikirwa amethibitisha klabu hiyo kuachana na magolikipa wawili, Farouk Shikalo raia wa Kenya na Metacha Mnata ambaye ni Mtanzania baada ya kuitumikia timu hiyo kwa miaka miwili. #NipasheMwangaWaJamii #NipasheMichezo pic.twitter.com/C8SYxLy8hw— Nipashe Tanzania (@Nipashetz) August 9, 2021 Shikalo joined the club in July 2019 from former Football Kenya Federation Cup holders Bandari on a two-year long deal which came to a close in the recently concluded season.The custodian’s fate was sealed on Sunday when the club deeped into their coffers and signed Mali national team goalkeeper Djigui Diarra for two seasons casting a doubt over the possibility of contract renewal.With Tanzanian international Metacha Mnata already out of favor with the club honchos following an ugly altercation with fans in June, Shikalo was expected to be handed a new deal thanks to the solid displays he had when the latter was on the sinbin.However, Yanga who are flexing their financial muscles in the transfer market are seemingly going for big names even as the push to close in the gap and match their sworn rivals intensifies.With Metacha also reported to be on his way out, Yanga are expected to sign another shot stopper to complement Diarra and the budding Ramadhan Kabwili who is deemed a future prospect.Shikalo launched his professional career at National Super League FC Talanta who by then were then referred as National Youth Talent Academy before crossing to Tusker.He ditched the Eleven-time Kenyan champions for Muhoroni Youth before signing for Posta Rangers. His search for playing time landed him at Bandari where he burst into fame after being named the best goalkeeper twice in succession.
