Mathare midfielder leaves for further studies in the US

Mathare United midfielder Cercidy ‘Carrick’ Okeyo has left the club for the US where is set to further his studies.The defensive midfielder was not involved in his side’s match against Nairobi City Stars on Saturday, a match they won 2-0 and the club has now confirmed that the player, who joined the club at the start of the season left for US on Saturday evening.Club CEO Jackton Obure has confirmed Carrick’s departure to the US and wished him well for the future.“It is true, Carrick is no longer part of the team, he left the country for the US on Saturday evening. He got a good scholarship in the US and we felt it was a good opportunity for him to pursue and we wholeheartedly allowed him to leave. The team registered wins in their last three games and in the process moved from the foot of the FKF Premier League log and currently sit in 15th position. Their last three games will be against Bandari, Ulinzi Stars and Western Stima.Okeyo started his top-flight career at the now defunct Nakuru All-Stars. He then moved to Tusker FC in 2017 and a year later he transferred to Gor Mahia. After just over a year with Gor he moved to Sofapaka in August 2019 and a year later he moved to Mathare United.
