Experienced Gor Mahia winger Clifton Miheso has shrugged competition from two other players to be crowned the club’s July Fans’ Player of the Month.In the inaugural reward scheme launched by the club, K’Ogalo the fans get to vote for a player they deem to have performed best from a shortlist of three contestants. In the first edition, Miheso overcame competition from captain Harun Shakava and defensive midfielder Ernest Wendo as he went on to get the most votes that enabled him to bag the award. The winner gets to walk away with Ksh. 25,000 as reward for scooping the monthly award.Speaking after being named July’s finest, Miheso expressed his gratitude to the fans who voted for him as the first time receiver of the award.“I am so excited to be the first winner of this award and I thank all my teammates because this is a team sport. Gor started with a 2-1 loss against Tusker, a 1-1 draw against Nairobi City Stars, a 1-2 loss against Kariobangi Sharks before concluding with a 1-0 defeat against Ulinzi Stars.Club top scorer Jules Ulimwengu who scored two out of the three goals the club managed in the four games was not even included in the list of contenders for the award.
