Ulinzi Stars have been dealt a blow with news that defender George Omondi is set to be sidelined for a long time after undergoing an ACL reconstruction surgery. The club confirmed that the combative defender will be out of action for the next 12 months, which means that he will also miss the whole of the 2021/2022 campaign that is set to kick off late next month.Omondi has had limited playing time this season owing to the perfect partnership between Bonaventure Muchika and Boniface Andayi initially, before Alex Masinde cemented a place in the heart of Ulinzi’s backline to partner either of the three center-backs.The defender was injured in the the1-0 win against Nzoia in May after a collision with Hillary Simiyu midway through the first half but managed to shake off the injury and finish the game, his first start for the season. He went ahead to feature for five more games, starting in all of them, two in the FKF Cup against Sofapaka and Nairobi City Stars, and three in the league against Bandari, Sofapaka, and Tusker FC.In the games that Omondi featured for the Soldiers this season, he helped them managed three wins, including beating Sofapaka to advance to the FKF Cup Round of 16, losing to only Nairobi City Stars and Tusker FC.Also look out for George Omondi, Ulinzi Stars defender.
