New season, old problems! Disoriented Arsenal suffer two painful Bee stings in a spectacular collapse

Premier League is back – to the disgust of Gunners worldwide. Even though they’ve got new players in for the new season and they made a short trip to the league’s new club – they were again undone by their old problems. Clueless defence, toothless attack and idea-less midfield resulted in a miserable Friday night and a 2-0 defeat.Brentford started the match brightly, raring to show the world that they deserved to be in the world’s most competitive division. They have been swarming forward and Arsenal found themselves struggling to deflect wave after wave of red and white attacks. After some calamitous defending, the ball fell nicely for Sergi Canos on the left side of the box. The Spaniard hit a low strike in at Leno’s near post and scored the Bees’ first-ever Premier League goal!Arsenal’s next two Premier League games: ▫️ Chelsea (H) ▫️ Man City (A) 💀 pic.twitter.com/uGJAqtBP6x— B/R Football (@brfootball) August 13, 2021 Looking on at the Brentford Community Stadium was legendary Arsenal goalscorer Ian Wright, who was bitterly disappointed with his old club’s showing.”We expected better from Arsenal, but it’s the same old, same old. They’ve passed the ball too slowly and too many players don’t look up for it. Brentford have been fantastic, they’ve pressed and pressed, and if Arsenal aren’t careful they could get another one. There’s no creativity for Arsenal.”Mikel Arteta had to make his half-time talk count and it looked like did say all the right things to his players in the dressing room as they looked much better once the match restarted. Emile Smith-Rowe and Kieran Tierney looked dangerous on the flanks as forwards Gabriel Martinelli and young Folarin Balogun tried to drag their team back in the contest.David Luiz: ‘I left Arsenal because I want to win trophies now’But all their efforts proved naïve and painfully ineffective when the EPL new boys doubled their lead with less then 20 minutes left. A long throw-in wasn’t dealt with by the new-look Arsenal defence and Christian Norgaard had an easy task to tap in and pile more misery onto the visiting fans.It looks like not even the big-money defensive recruits guarantee competent defending. Who would have guessed that? The season is merely a couple of hours old and Arteta has already got a crisis on his hands.1 – Brentford will end tonight top of the English top-flight for the first time since September 1, 1946, a gap of 74 years & 346 days, the biggest ever gap for a club topping the top-flight, breaking Notts County’s record (58y 251d between December 1924 and August 1983). They worked hard to make their much-fancied visitors look rather ordinary and they absolutely deserved the points in front of their jubilant supporters.PREMIER LEAGUE – Round 1FridayBrentford – Arsenal 2-0 (1-0)/Canos 22, Norgaard 73/Saturday14.30: (1.60) Man.Utd.
