“Probably I will get worried if we will be in the same rank with three or four matches to go” These were the sentiments of Mathare United coach Frank Furo Ouna in June shortly before they played KCB in their return leg.True to his words, Mathare United have put a brace fight as they are three points away from surviving relegation and will look to achieve it when they clash with Bandari at Mbaraki Grounds, Mombasa. From the time Ouna made the sentiments, he has guided the club to amass 16 points, five wins and one draw to jump out of the relegation zone and are currently placed 15th on the log.At Mbaraki, the course will remain the same for both Mathare and Bandari depending on what they are fighting for; for Ouna’s side, continue pushing for their survival at all costs while Bandari will be pushing for the win to topple off AFC Leopards from third.Bandari have managed to collect 18 points from five wins and three draws to edge closer to a top-three finish at the end of the season with three games to play.Tunawakaribisha nyumbani Mathare United Kesho saa Tisa alasiri! There is no small team and there is no easy game. All teams are tough and that is why we prepare game after game in an attempt to get all three points. The third place is in sight for us and that will be our biggest source of motivation in that game. It is a tough game but we now have a bigger objective to finish in the top three because we cannot win the league ideally and the Cup is also gone. So we are going for the top three as a consolation and that’s why the three points are important to us, not only from tomorrow’s game but also in the remaining games,” Ndikumana told Mozzart Sport.Ouna is upbeat that his team is ready to take on the survival challenge to the end and assure themselves of playing in the top flight in the coming season.🚨 | It’s Matchday!🆚 @BandariOfficial 📍 Mbaraki Sports Club ⌚️3⃣pm 🏆 @Officialfkfpl ~ We are in Mombasa for this one, what say you? #GreatnessWithin #BandariVsMathare #FKFPL #MUFC pic.twitter.com/FVoFQceVe3— Mathare United FC (@MathareUtd) August 14, 2021 Despite being in their fine form at this moment in the entire season, the former KCB tactician knows that they are not yet safe as they are just one point from Vihiga and two from bottom-placed Western Stima.“We are in a good space at the moment with our form. It is the best we have managed all season but despite all of this we still find ourselves far from being safe. To be three games away from concluding the season and still be unsure of your league status is a huge challenge but one that we are more than willing to take on,” Furo told the club’s media. The first leg meeting between the two teams ended in a stalemate at Nairobi in January, bouncing back to a draws pattern in this fixture that has been the case since August 2017.Mathare last beat Bandari in 2016 at Mbaraki, their only win against the Mombasa-based side in five years. The match kicks off at 3 PM.
