Muyoti admits they could lose midfielder to Tusker, Bandari

Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Nicholas Muyoti has admitted that they could lose midfielder Shami Mwinyi Kibwana whose contract with the Kakamega-based side expires at the end of the season and has attracted interest from two Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) clubs.Shami has been in great form this campaign despite being derailed by a couple of injuries that made him miss some matches. His best month was in July where he scored eight goals in six matches. Homeboyz are now fighting to keep the former Thika United, KCB, and AFC Leopards man who is reportedly being eyed by Bandari FC and the rebuilding league leaders Tusker FC.In an interview with Mozzart Sport, the former Kenyan international now turned coach said they are keen on retaining the midfielder. He further disclosed that the club chairman Cleophas Shimanyula has been engaging the player in renewal talks.“We definitely want Shami to remain with us because he has been an exceptional player for us. He has been in talks with the boss and I can’t really say where they have reached in terms of agreeing on a new deal. We will wait and see if a deal will come through, we hope that he agrees to continue with us but if a deal is not struck then we will wish him all the best wherever he will go,” he stated.Hat-trick @FcHomeboyz’s Shami Kibwana Mwinyi receives the match-day ball for a hat-trick against Kariobangi Sharks. 31st July, 2021.#footke pic.twitter.com/vi2tDPjIVx— Footballers Of Our Time (@TransferMarktEA) August 11, 2021 Muyoti added that they will have to go to the market for a replacement in case the attacking midfielder opts to end his association with the club at the end of the current campaign.”In case he decides to leave then we will definitely have to look for a replacement but his quality is a rare one, there are not so many players of his calibre and we will try to groom someone to take over from him,” he added.Homeboyz have two matches left. They will play Vihiga United on Wednesday before ending the season with a match against AFC Leopards.
