South Sudan captain snubs FKF PL teams, moves to Zambia

Zambian champions Zesco United have completed the signing of South Sudan national team captain, Pater Maker Manyang on a two-year deal.The lanky defender was in the country for a couple of months last year and was linked with several FKF Premier League clubs. Kariobangi Sharks, Tusker FC and Wazito FC were all said to be interested in his services after he caught the eye of many with some inspirational performance in South Sudan’s 1-0 win over Uganda in an African Cup of Nations qualifier played in Nairobi in November.The player has now opted to switch to South Sudan where he is viewed as a replacement for Kenyan international David Owino who left the club in January for Napsa Stars. He expressed his delight at joining the nine-time league champions.“Zesco United is a big football club and a competitive team at the continental level. I played against them in 2016 when they reached the CAF Champions League semi-finals. I am extremely delighted to join the club.
