Mathare United could seal their top-flight safety on Wednesday afternoon should they get a win over Ulinzi Stars at Ruaraka Grounds and Western Stima and Vihiga United who will be playing Wazito FC and Kakamega Homeboyz respectively fail to win.United are currently 15th in the FKF Premier League table with 24 points and a win today will take their tally to 27 which means if Stima (22) and Vihiga (23) fail to win, Mathare will be safe heading into the final game of the season against Stima. Vihiga on the other hand end their season today.United’s recent surge saw them move from the foot of the table to 15th position in the log. Last weekend’s 3-0 defeat to Bandari however dealt them a massive setback and they have to redeem themselves against the Soldiers to avoid heading to the final match day while still battling the drop. Against United, they will have to do without suspended coach Benjamin Nyangweso who’s currently serving a five-match prohibition for the altercation he had with referees after his side’s defeat to KCB FC a month ago.The first leg match between the two sides ended in Ulinzi Stars’ favor as they registered a 2-1 and the Slim Boys now have a chance to avenge for the defeat.Mathare coach Frank Ouna maintains that they still have some work to do despite being off the bottom of the league.“I think we are on a good run, we are not in a good position in the league but we are on a good run and any point that we get helps us get out of the situation, three points is a big bonus,” he stated.
