Gor Mahia head coach Mark Harrison has decried the club’s lean squad which requires beef up in all departments.Player transfer window opens on Monday 23rd August ahead of next season’s campaign where they will be seeking to reclaim the league title and perform well in the CAF Confederation Cup.The record league champions have already lost the league title to incoming champions Tusker FC who will be crowned on Sunday at Utalii Grounds. Their season has been largely underwhelming and had to change coaches thrice. It started with Brazilian Robertinho who left weeks after joining the team after CAF questioned his qualifications. He was replaced by Portuguese Vaz Pinto who walked out on the team last month before Harrison took over on 1st August. The team has also faced some financial challenges that resulted in them not paying players and some had to walk out. Kenneth Muguna moved to Azam FC of Tanzania while Charles Momanyi is on the verge of joining Tusker FC, Clifton Miheso is also angling for a move away after the expiry of his contract.Gor Mahia lacking in all departments, says coach Mark HarrisonSpeaking after their 1-0 win against Posta Rangers last evening Harrison said they have to strengthen all the departments if they have to fight for the title next season. #TheAllNewLookUPTV pic.twitter.com/ootM7yMNiF— LOOK UP TV (@lookuptv) August 19, 2021 Ahead of Sunday’s final match of the season, the Englishman says he has a lean squad as he does not have so many options on the bench.“Our squad is very shallow at the moment and we will beef up everywhere, we need a stronger squad because when I look on the bench it is not giving me many options and that is a problem, we need to have a competitive squad in all the areas,” he told Mozzart Sport. He went to state areas that will need beefing up, in total he says he wants 6-7 players but with some departures expected, the number could go up.“We need a right-back, left-back, center-back, goalkeepers, midfield players, strikers we need all these players to have a strong squad. I am currently operating with 20 players at the moment and so I have to get 6-7 more players,” he added.Among players linked with a move to Gor is Dennis Ng’ang’a of Wazito FC, Posta Rangers pair of Elvis Osok and Kevin Ouma. Francis Kahata who is currently unattached, AFC Leopards captain Robinson Kamura, Rodgers Ouma of Western Stima, and Mathare United midfielder Tyson Otieno. The club has already acquired Malian keeper, Adama Keita.Among those expected to leave the club are South Sudanese striker, Tito Okello, Burundian striker Jules Ulimwengu, veteran keeper Boniface Oluoch, and young midfielder Nicholas Omondi.
