Real Madrid are the only ones who can break the early season yawn fest in La Liga

Have you been watching Spanish football over the weekend? Well, we have. And to be perfectly honest – it wasn’t spectacular. In fact, it was a big snooze fest in almost every game. All teams scored either no goals or just one. Not only that we wanted to see more goals, but some attacking football wouldn’t have gone amiss. But, alas, it was a barren four-day stretch on the Iberian Peninsula. With one exception – the cracking 3-3 draw between Levante and Real Madrid.Just 2 rounds of fixtures played in La Liga, and Atlético Madrid and Sevilla are the only teams to win both their matches thus far.Sevilla defeated Getafe with a 93rd minute winner! 😲Barça, Madrid, Mallorca and Valencia with 1 win and 1 draw. pic.twitter.com/WW8yDNa4zT— Barça Buzz (@Barca_Buzz) August 23, 2021 An average of 1.6 goals per match looks bad enough, but it gets worse. If we counted out the freakish result at Estadi Ciutat de Valencia, the goals average on the remaining nine fixtures is just 1.11 goals per game. Combine such measly average with the fact that most teams are playing a bland, cautious brand of football and it makes you want to watch weather forecast instead. On Monday night, Sevilla snatched an injury-time 1-0 win against a dour Getafe team. Had it not been for in-form Erik Lamela, we would have been subjected to a grand total of nought goals in two Monday fixtures, as Osasuna and Celta played yet another goalless draw late last night. Seriously, what happened to teams scoring goals for fun?Friday, 21.00: (2.70) Mallorca (2.95) Espanyol (2.90)Ten games in the entire La Liga matchday yielded two goalless draws, three 1-1 draws, four 1-0 wins and that silly six-goal thriller in Valencia. We demand to see a significant improvement in the goalscoring charts because we deserve much better from this division. Yes, Lionel Messi has gone to France and Cristiano Ronaldo had switched to Italy a year earlier, but come on! Now we know why Messi left La Liga hmmm pic.twitter.com/S0xpt5tHOT— ‼️ (@ddthots) August 24, 2021 While we wait for attackers in Spain to find their shooting boots, we’d like to take a moment to thank the players of Levante and Real Madrid for giving us a bit of joy!LA LIGA – ROUND 2FridayBetis – Cadiz 1-1 (1-1)/Juanmi 22 – Negredo 10 pen/SaturdayAlaves – Mallorca 0-1 (0-0)/Ninno 80/Granada – Valencia 1-1 (1-0)/Suarez 16, Soler 88 pen/Espanyol – Villareal 0-0Athletic Club – Barcelona 1-1 (0-0)/Martinez 50 – Depay 75/SundayReal Sociedad – Rayo Vallecano 1-0 (0-0)/Oyarzabal 68 pen/Atletico Madrid – Elche 1-0 (1-0)/Correa 39/Levante – Real Madrid 3-3 (0-1)/Roger 46, Campana 57, Pier 79 – Bale 5, Vinicius 73, 85/MondayGetafe – Sevilla 0-1 (0-0)/Lamela 90+3/Osasuna – Celta 0-0
