After receiving his maiden Harambee Stars call up FC Talanta midfielder Enock Momanyi has disclosed his target of making to the team when coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee names his final squad for the 2022 World Cup opening qualifier game.Momanyi was handed a rare call when Ghost unveiled a 36-man provisional squad for the forthcoming duel against neighbours Uganda set for next month in Nairobi.The creative midfielder who was the sole player to be plucked from the wide pool of players who ply their trade in the National Super League is hoping to convince Ghost to draft him in the final squad.”I really hope that i will be retained in the final squad for the qualifier game. To make it easier for the coach, I have resolved to double my efforts in the training sessions we will be having. Being given playing time will be an added advantage,” he said.WCQ2022: Odada, Johana make Harambee Stars provisional squadMomanyi who broke to the scene when Liberty Academy acquired him in 2017 said he was not anticipating for the call up which came as a suprise to him.He revealed that the news reached him shortly after leaving the Gems Cambridge grounds where he had walked as part of the routine club training sessions.The former Shabana player said he could not believe it until his teammates shared the news from the verified Football Kenya Federation pages.”The call up came as a surprise for me as I want not expecting it all. I was in the club bus from training when I heard from one of the technical bench members that I had been drafted in the provisional squad. I rubbished his version but fully believed when i saw it online and in a section of the media,” he narrated.Momanyi in the meantime said the call up will inspire him to step up ahead of his debut in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League following Talanta’s promotion. The 23-year old who joined the Ken Kenyatta side in February from Shabana will have a test of top flight football starting next season, a feat he says has been his long term dream.Prior to joining Shabana, Momanyi had turned for the defunct Northern Wanderers and Thika United.Harambee Stars enter residential camp for World Cup qualifiers
