Sofapaka FC head coach Ken Odhiambo says that the trials they are currently conducting will yield fruits and believes that they could identify the next ‘Messi’.Batoto ba Mungu are currently conducting trials of players between 18-23 years who will be incorporated into the senior team ahead of next season. The trials began on Tuesday and will come to a close on Saturday afternoon. In an interview with Mozzart Sport, Odhiambo explained why Sofapaka is the only top flight team calling for trials ahead of the 2021/22 season that starts in a month’s time.”It’s my philosophy everywhere I go, there are good young untapped talents out there that we intend to give playing opportunities, we could get a Messi from out there. I believe that there so many talents out there that are yet to be identified and when you hold trials for example it is a chance for these players to come out and be identified, I have done this everywhere I have coached and I am confident that from these trials we will get good players for our team next season, “he said.🔵 Club Update 🗞️ An opportunity to join BatotoBaMungu, kindly comply as required. Our best wishes@betikaKe@OyandoRonny#BatotoBaMungu pic.twitter.com/iCaoWGGhSb— Sofapaka FC (@FC_Sofapaka) August 21, 2021 Sofapaka played the better part of 2020/21 season with makeshift forwards despite having a good number of strikers in their roaster but Odhiambo says that’s not about to change and that his main focus is on having a solid backline and midfield.”My main focus is on defense and midfield. Once you are solid in these two departments you are good to go because I honestly believe that any player can score, for example this season Lawrence Juma, a midfielder scored 17 goals but on the other hand not every player can defend and not everyone can play in midfield and so I want to build from the back going forward, we first must get it right at the back,” he added.
