Flavin Mawete’s brace and a goal a-piece from Danai Bhobho and Aisha Mnunka scored for Simba as Nasra Nahimana scored the consolation for PVP.Simba Queens coach Ababu Ali Omar was not impressed with the overall performance of the team despite the win. The aim was to get a win and even though we did so, it was not an easy game. This is a league for champions. Our goalkeeper did not show seriousness in the second half and we had to get her out. We cannot entertain jokes at this stage,” lamented Ababu. His PVP counterpart Jumain Niyonkuru admitted to being overpowered by Simba Queens. “I congratulate Simba for the win. The game was good as it showed us what we need to work on. Simba were a good side than us more so when you look at their squad, they are experienced and have foreign players.” He said. It appeared like it would be a routine pick for Amissa Inarukundo in goal but the ball bounced higher than the custodian it would, ending in the net.A quick goal like that would have destabilized most teams but it was not the case with PVP as they grew more confident after that goal, making the contest an even one and even testing Janneth Simba in goal.PVP preferred playing a high line and Simba’s duo of Flavin Mawete and Monique Kipoyi noticed that and purposed to exploit the opportunity on the ball.Bhobho hit some good balls over PVP’s defence which Mawete and Kipoyi took advantage of but Amissa Inarukundo stood firm and cleared any danger that they posed, but not for long.32 minutes into the game saw Simba double their lead through Mawete after a good interplay between the midfielders, with Zena Rashid providing the final ball to Mawete. The Rwandese side almost halved the deficit towards the end of the first half when Peace Niyomwungere hit the crossbar after connecting to Zilfa Suzzane cross but Simba held on to keep their lead intact at the break.hongera @simbaqueensctz Great start with a 4-1 win in the African champions league! 🦁🦁🦁🦁— Mohammed Dewji MO (@moodewji) August 28, 2021 On resumption, PVP came with hopes of at least getting a goal that would get them back into the game and took the game to Simba. Their efforts paid off barely 10 minutes into the game when Nasra Nahimana was brought down by Simba’s custodian Simba and a penalty awarded. Nahimana stepped up to take the resultant kick and made no mistake, slotting past Simba to make the scores 2-1.Seeking to add to their tally and protect their lead, Simba brought in Aisha Mnunka for Asha Djafari with 25 minutes left to play. Simba extended their lead from the spot after a PVP defender handled the ball in the box, and Mawete converted to grab his brace and Simba’s third. There was no coming back for PVP as substitute Mnunka scored the fourth to seal the win for Simba.Despite the win, Simba are second on the group after Uganda’s Lady Doves hammered Djibouti’s FAD 5-0 earlier.Sunday Fixtures Yei Join Stars vs New Generation – 1 PM EAT – Nyayo National Stadium CBE vs Vihiga Queens – 4 PM EAT – Nyayo National Stadium
