Fazila Ikwaput’s brace, a goal a-piece from Riticia Nabbosa and Jowelia Nagadya, and an own goal from Nasteho Roble Djama were all Lady Doves needed for a dream start to their qualifying campaign.FAD’s head coach Far Said said it was the first time playing outside the country and in a natural grass field, and that contributed to the result.”It was first time we played outside the country. We never played in a natural grass before today. The weather affected the way we played. The game plan was to defend well and hit them on the attack in the first half. But after the injury of Nadia our plan was interrupted,” he said. His counterpart, Fred Musiime lauded his charge’s teamwork.”It has been marvelous and a blessing from God. It was the struggle of the players working as a team. I trust my players because they follow my instructions. The opponents gave us a challenge, they are a good side,” Musiime said.Lady Doves showed intent from tbe first minute, stealing possession from FAD but their efforts came off the post.CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers Lady Doves Thrash FAD FC In The Opening Match FT: Lady Doves 🇺🇬 5-0 FAD FC 🇺🇬 Riticia Nabbosa ⚽️🇺🇬 Fazila Ikwaput ⚽️⚽️🇺🇬 Alupo Norah ⚽️🇩🇯 Nasteho Roble Djama (OG)#CECAFAWCLQ #CAFWCLQ— Cecafaonline (@Cecafaonline) August 28, 2021 It was all Lady Doves in the firat half, with FAD failing to test goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro the entire half. 16 minutes into the first half, Lady Doves opened the scoring courtesy of Riticia Nabbosa who headed home a flick from a corner. It took Doves only 14 minutes to double the lead, this time Fazila Ikwaput producing some brilliant solo effort from nearly the midway. The hot weather at Nyayo Stadium seemed to take toll of both teams, necessitating the referee to issue two water breaks in the first half.On resumption, Lady Doves continued from where they left off in the first half, playing mostly in FAD’s half and not letting the foot off the pedal. Ikwaput and Norah Alupo were terriffic on attack, causing FAD’s defenders enough trouble. Lady Doves made tge first change, bringing in Nakacwa Spencer for Jowelia Nagadya and the substitute wasted no time, slotting in Lady Doves third goal of the match just 10 minutes after coming on. Norah continued her exploits on the left and forced Nasteho Roble Djama to put the ball into her own net as the Ugandan team extended their lead to four goals. With one minute to play in regular time, Ikwaput once again showed some solo brilliance to net the final goal.
