Juventus suffer Ronaldo hangover! Empoli win in Turin in the biggest upset of the weekend

Two games – just one point! Juventus fans thought that the draw away to Udinese in their opening Serie A fixture of the season was a poor result, but what can they say tonight? Their Ronaldo-less black and whites dished out a lacklustre display and succumbed to a 1-0 loss to Empoli at Juventus Stadium.FT: Juventus 0-1 Empoli The post-Ronaldo era starts out with a defeat 😬 pic.twitter.com/7LsugEK1FE— B/R Football (@brfootball) August 28, 2021 Empoli captain Leonardo Mancuso scored the only goal of the game on 21 minutes. Even though it was an evident setback for Massimiliano Allegri and his players, few doubted The Old Lady’s chances of mounting a comeback. But as the match went on, it became obvious that these players are lacking the focus required to beat anyone.Striker Alvaro Morata and new signing Manuel Locatelli were sent on at the break, but it did little to turn the game to Juventus’ advantage as Empoli believed more and more that they could claim the scalp of much-fancied opponents. Despite enjoying more possession, Juventus failed to create clear-cut chances as frustration gripped their misfiring stars. If only there were Cristiano Ronaldo to provide a spark in games like this. But the Portuguese is gone and Juventus will quickly have to find new leaders. Juventus have failed to win their opening two games of Serie A. The last time they went without a win in their opening two games, was in 2015/16 whilst also under Allegri. A rough start. pic.twitter.com/wbqq9VOti0— Squawka Football (@Squawka) August 28, 2021 The final whistle brought huge celebrations by the few away fans who couldn’t believe their luck – they claimed only the third league win over Juventus in their entire history!SERIE A – Round 2FridayUdinese – Venezia 3-0 (1-0)/Pussetto 29, Deulofeu 70, Molina 90+3/Hellas Verona – Inter 1-3 (1-0)/Ilic 15 – Martinez 47, Correa 83, 90+4/SaturdayLazio – Spezia 6-1 (3-1)/Immobile 5, 15, 45+2, Anderson 47, Hysaj 70, Alberto 85/Atalanta – Bologna 0-0Fiorentina – Torino 2-1 (1-0)/Gonzalez 41, Vlahovic 70 – Verdi 89/Juventus – Empoli 0-1 (0-1)/Mancuso 21/Sunday19.30: (2.10) Sassuolo (3.45) Sampdoria (3.50)19.30: (5.70) Genoa (4.00) Napoli (1.60)21.45: (5.60) Salernitana (3.90) Roma (1.62)21.45: (1.50) Milan (4.30) Cagliari (6.50)***odds are subject to change
