Vihiga Queens will begin their quest to qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League football when they take on Ethiopia’s CBE in a group B match at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday afternoon.Queens have been preparing at their Vihiga backyard before shifting base to Nairobi with the sole target being securing the champions league spot. The 2020 champions were however dealt a blow when their coach Alex Alumira quit days before the tournament and joined Tanzania’s Tiger Queens, Harambee Starlets head coach Charles Okere is expected to lead the team on Sunday afternoon.Despite being out of active football for the last two months, Captain Enez Mango is adamant that they have what it takes to perform well in this tournament.“We have analyzed most of the teams and we know it is not going to be easy. Whoever works the hardest and the smartest in this tournament will carry the day. We have trained hard as a team and we know we have what it takes to go out there and compete for the trophy. We expect it tough but we have done our part in the training. Personally, I am determined to help the team and my aim is to become the top scorer at this tournament,” she stated.
