Bixente focusing on the Wazito-One role

Youthful Wazito goalkeeper Bixente Otieno has put his seniors at the club on notice ahead of the new season of his plan to establish himself as the club first choice custodian. The promising shot stopper has seen limited playing time since joining the club from Makongeni Sports Association (MASA) in 2019 thanks to the competition from the experienced goalkeepers who have always won the nod to play ahead of him.Bixente ! 17 years old and star in the making. Otieno said that he had come of age having worked under a handful of revered trainers and senior glove men who have bequeathed him secrets of playing in the top flight.“I really want to play consistently in the new season. I only played two matches in the recently concluded season and they were not enough. The secret is hard work, discipline and the rest will take of itself. Age is also catching up and will do anything within my means to compel the technical bench to give me playing time,” he said.Wazito halt Gor Mahia’s 12-game winning streakOtieno in the meantime waxed lyrical of the club’s goalkeepers’ trainer Samuel Koko and the first choice Frederick Odhiambo for holding his hand throughout the season. He noted that Koko who arrived at the club from the start of the season from Mathare United had improved his handling and distribution skills while Odhiambo had helped him learn the demands of top flight football.Wazito hands young goalkeeper Bixente Otieno his #KPL Debut in their tie against Kakamega Homeboyz.
