Despite an underwhelming campaign last season, Bernard Ondiek believes his Posta Rangers side can challenge for the title and land their first-ever league crown.Rangers had a torrid start to the season and were flirting with relegation for the better part of the first leg but the arrival of former Harambee Stars head coach Stanley Okumbi stabilized the rocking ship. Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Ondiek who was a mid-season signing for Posta from former champions Gor Mahia claimed that the Mailmen can challenge for the title in the 2021-2022 season.By All Means Posta Rangers’ Bernard Ondiek goes up (then down) to stop Kakamega Homeboyz’s quest for a 4th goal when the two teams clash on Friday 28th.Homeboyz left-back Wainaina Thomas is on the end of the delivery while Allan Wanga and Sulaiman Osman await.FT: 1-3 pic.twitter.com/xtXAdlAejL— Footballers Of Our Time (@TransferMarktEA) May 28, 2021 “We want to be title contenders next season amd I believe we can achieve that with coach Stanley Okumbi. I have already played for a top team (Gor Mahia) and I’ve played for a smaller team (Western Stima) that got decent results against top teams. I remember playing for Stima and there was a time we were in fourth place for a long period of time ,” said Ondiek.Posta finished the season with the highest amount of draws (15) with Mathare United who survived relegation on the penultimate fixture of the season winning a game more than them.Ondiek added that players need to forge a strong winning mentality if they are to challenge for the title, noting that Okumbi’s pedigree is a big factor for them ahead of next season. 🟡|37′ Goal @posta_rangers Ondiek Bernard with a bicycle Shot in the area finds it’s way into the back of the net.Posta 1-2 Homeboyz#PostaVsHomeboyz #BKPL pic.twitter.com/d8XkH8vK8m— FKF Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) May 28, 2021 “We started the season badly but I believe we will do better. The players must have a winning mentality – I remember our game against Gor Mahia, we played well but lost by a solitary goal and I think what made the difference is the mentality in Gor players,” added Ondiek.
