Strategic AFC Leopards circling Bidco United defender

AFC Leopards are interested in signing Bidco United defender Anthony Simasi to beef up their backline, Mozzart Sport can report. The lanky central defender has been a cog in Bidco’s maiden top-flight campaign where they proved a tough nut to crack particularly for top sides, his good run with the Thika-based side has now attracted the interest of the rebuilding Leopards.“There is interest from Leopards, although they are yet to communicate officially we are aware that they want to sign Simasi. We will wait, if they table a formal we will discuss it but until then he remains our player,” a source from Bidco’s camp told Mozzart Sport.Initially a midfielder, Simasi was moved into central defence by Coach Anthony Akhulia and his partnership with Francis Oduor has proved to be a solid one. He started his career with the now-defunct Eldoret Youth before moving to Bidco in 2018. Should he leave, he could be replaced by Nzoia’s Gabriel Wandera, the scoring defender is on United’s radar but they face competition from Ulinzi Stars. Here is a snippet of Peter Anyona’s equalizer against Gor Mahia after a masterclass delivery by Anthony Simasi.Next match we are up against Kariobangi Sharks at home. Central defence in particular is an area of big concern as towards the end of the season they had to work with a make-shift pairing at the heart of the defence, left-back Isaac Kipyegon anf right-back Yusuf Mainge partnered in some games.Apart from backline, Ingwe will have to work on their striking department as Elvis Rupia is expected to leave for a club abroad while Shaka’s Bienvenue’s future at the club remains uncertain, he has been linked with a move out of the den. Another player linked with Leopards is Tusker FC goalkeeper Michael Wanjala who is expected to leave in the coming days.
