Title winning skipper Eugene Asike headlines the seven defenders shortlisted for the Football Kenya Federation Premier League defender of the season accolade.Asike who led Tusker players in toasting the crown two week ago was instrumental in helping Tusker keep the second best defensive record as the brewers let in a paltry 26 goals.The burly who wa preferred to partner with Ugandan import Rodgers Aloro at the heart of the defence also played a crucial role as far as leadership is concerned.He will face stiff competition from KCB hard man Nashon Alembi who was the constant in the club’s backline which let in 23 goals, the meanest record in the season.Alembi who was captured from the defunct Ushuru defied his lack of top flight inexperience to produce top drawer performances which saw Harambee Stars head coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee hand him his maiden call up and debut in the final 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier matches.Others in the list are Bidco United right back David Kalama whose runs on the flank coupled by timely tackles earned him recognition from the league panel.The diminutive player has also a couple of assists against his name and so is Stars right back Daniel Sakari who is also in the list.
