City’s Mendy remains in prison, had a ’meltdown’ after arriving in his cell

Benjamin Mendy will stay in coustody until at least 10th September. Judge Steven Everett declined the 27-year-old Frenchman’s bail application at Chester Crown Court in northwest England following a 50-minute hearing, a court spokesman said. Manchester City defender has been held at a prison in Liverpool since last Friday, when he appeared in court to face four counts of rape and one of sexual assault. As per Sun, The 27-year-old was told by guards he would be placed in the VP wing for vulnerable prisoners after he arrived at HMP Altcourse in Liverpool on Friday. However the footballer mistakenly assumed he would be housed in a VIP wing for celebrity figures at the Category B jail and was shocked.„When Mendy arrived staff explained he was going to be kept on the VP wing for his own safety. He had a rude awakening when he saw the cell and realised who he was going to be mixing with. He wasn’t happy and it was a very sobering experience for him“ a source told The Sun.
