Kylian Mbappe was Real Madrid’s top target in the recently ended transfer window, but, obviously, it was never meant for them – PSG simply didn’t want to let him go; it wasn’t for the money because they allegedly firstly offered KSh22 billion plus 1,2 billion for bonuses, but PSG rejected; then they raised the offer, but there was no response whatsoever as the clock was ticking and the midnight was fast approaching with both sides eager to establish themselves as the dominant in the battle to determine not only where the prodigious French striker will continue his career but to show one more thing – is the old world order, with Florentino Perez’s luxury outfit and Galacticos heritage in the centre of it, taking its toll and withdrawing from a clash with the emerging sheikh-funded giants who had just swept off Madrid’s archrivals by stealing Lionel Messi and making sure that the entire world finds out who’s the new boss – for now, only based on the fact their starting XI (and bench also) is packed with a half a dozen of worlds best players such as Messi, Neymar, Mbappe, Di Maria, Wijnaaldum and etc, but soon enough they’ll probably add some silveware to it, or Mauricio Pochettino will be fired more quickly than PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi can count to ten in French, the language of passion which seems to be lacking in case of Mbappe, whose body language and facial expresions tell a story of a guy fed up with being slowly sidelined to provide a space for new superstars every now and then, which eventually led to Mbappe’s aparent ego issues and, subsequently, sooner or later arrival to Santiago Bernabeu; if not now, than in December; if not in December for bags full of money addressed to Parc des Princes club, than in June 2022 solely for the player himself as he would become a free agent and a foundation-player for the new sequel of Galacticos project: a stepping stone that brought back Real Madrid’s elite status in the world of football that was diminished before Florentino Perez’s first presidency in the early ’00s, when the signings of Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo, Beckham and others put the Madrid slot under the spotlight and left them there even when the results lacked, when the Messi-Inesta-Xavi trio dominated not only Iberian Peninsula but the entire football planet, when the Premier League top sides made their own private party of the Champions League finals; all those things couldn’t tarnish Los Blancos reputation of being the toughest boy in the neighborhood…at least, until that new, Qatary-based, kid on the block arrived to scene, and that’s, to sum up, the main reason for the latest Kylian Mbappe War that saw lots of drama, embelished with a rollercoaster which finally settled in an unexpected outcome – Mbappe stays at PSG, for now, as a result of a fragile truce that will serve for the next couple of months as a prelude for a new, dreadful war.P. S. And they still say it’s impossible to explain the whole of Mbappe’s case in a sole sentence…By: Bojan Babic##EDITORS_CHOICE##
