Sofapaka land highly-rated Onyango

FKF Premier League side, Sofapaka have started their preparation for the new season by acquiring the services of highly-rated ex-St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale striker, Jacob Onyango. Onyango who has earlier been linked with a move to Bandari moves to Batoto Ba Mungu after impressing the coaching staff during the trial period at the club. He becomes the first off-season acquisition for the 2009 champions.“Jacob to Sofapaka is a done deal. He trained with the team for a couple of days and the coaching staff was satisfied with his quality. Initially, they wanted him for the junior team but he has impressed them and he is now linking up with the first team,” a source close to the player told Mozzart Sport. Onyango shot to prominence during the 2018 Africa Copa Coca Cola U16 championship in Nakuru where he emerged as the top scorer with six goals and led his team to the African title. He followed it with an U19 national title in 2019 where the Saints defeated Dagoretti High School in Kisumu to lift the title before COVID-19 struck. He is strong in the air, speedy, with good shots It is his physical strength that makes it difficult for defenders to handle him.Highly-rated ex St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale striker, Jacob Onyango is set to join Sofapaka#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/l0WuFBA0dV— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) August 22, 2021 He joins Batoto Ba Mungu at a time when the team is struggling financially and their current players are threatening to walk out of the club.
