Despite dropping four points in two games, Harambee Stars head coach Jacob Ghost Mulee remains optimistic in Kenya’s hopes of sealing a place in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. Harambee Stars have been held to two frustrating draws against rival enemies Uganda and Rwanda in Group E of the World Cup qualifiers, leaving them second on the standings with Cranes and Mali having a game in hand. Speaking to the media after the 1-1 draw against Rwanda on Sunday, Ghost revealed that Harambee Stars still harbour hopes of progressing to the playoffs from Group E and ultimately book a place in the intercontinental tourney. 2️⃣ Matches2️⃣ PointsWe have all to play for in October.Let’s retreat and recharge.#Tunaweza pic.twitter.com/l48vPzlDyU— Harambee Stars (@Harambee__Stars) September 5, 2021 “Looking at both sides having not won their first game, we came to Rwanda and collected a point, it is tight but we are still in the race, the race for the World Cup has just begun so we are still on, it’s only two games played, we go to Mali for the money game and that that will determine where we go,””The game against Mali and Uganda will also determine a lot but with two points from two games it’s not so bad I mean we could have liked to have three points, we face Mali in back to back games,” said Mulee.Michael Olunga opened the scoring for Harambee Stars after just 10 minutes of action but soaked in an equalizer 10 minutes later through a deflected effort from Abdul Rwatubyaye.Ghost also blamed Olunga for missing a number of chances especially in the second half when he took on a number of Rwandan defenders but blazed his effort wide.
