FIFA has lifted the debilitating transfer embargo slapped on FKF Premier League side Wazito FC after the club paid their former players all the monies owed.The club was serving a transfer ban over money owed to Ghanaian forward Paul Acquah who left the club a year ago. After clearing the debt last week, the club is now off the hook and will be in a position to sign player this transfer window. “Official Communication: We can confirm that the world’s football governing body, FIFA has lifted the transfer embargo that had been slapped on the club. Consequently, we are at liberty to sign players from within and outside the borders,” the club said in a statement.Wazito becomes the first Kenyan club to get out of FIFA’s bad books. Three other clubs are currently still serving transfer bans, they are; Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards and Sofapaka. Already club CEO Dennis Gicheru has declared that the club will be going for some exciting talents.“We will first sit with the technical bench and do an assessment of the concluded season and plan for the coming one. We are obviously going to strengthen the team by bringing on board some new, quality players. We want to bring in players that will improve our current squad, the coaching staff will do the shortlisting and then we will play our part by trying to get these players. I can assure our supporters that we are going to have a better, competitive team next season,” he told the club website.The team resumed training on Monday in readiness for what promises to be an exciting season for the club.
