Korn Ferry Tour 2022 schedule opens in the Bahamas, culminates on Labor Day weekend, features larger purses

The PGA Tour has announced the 26-tournament Korn Ferry Tour schedule for 2022.

The season opens with The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic at Sandals Emerald Bay, Jan. 16-19, and concludes with the Korn Ferry Tour Championship in Newburgh, Indiana, over Labor Day weekend.

The season finale is one week after the PGA Tour’s Tour Championship. Both events were on the same weekend last season.

The 2022 rundown includes a return to international events, including the season opener. The first two events on the schedule, in fact, are in the Bahamas, the third is in Panama and the fourth in Colombia. The tour goes stateside for the first time in Week 5 in Florida.

There will be events in 18 different states as well as the long-awaited debut of a new event, the Lake Charles Championship, which is set March. The tournament’s debut was to be in 2020 but pushed back due to the COVID pandemic. It was again postponed in 2021 by hurricanes along the Louisiana coast.

The big number in 2022 is $750,000. That’s how much the minimum will be for regular-season events. The regular-season finale’s purse is $850,000, while all three of the playoff events will be $1 million. The Tour states that by the 2023 season, all regular-season events will feature purses of at least $1 million.

Six of the tournaments in 2022, including all three playoff events, will be live on Golf Channel.
