English referees are their own worst enemies – second yellow card when there wasn’t even the first

For a while now, English referees have been at the receiving end of critics for often making hilarious decisions and match-deciding errors. At 2018 World Cup in Russia, there weren’t even any referees from England. That is how bad the situation is in the football’s ‘country of birth’.And the bad spell continues. An embarrassing moment for the English referee Anthony Taylor – during last night’s clash in Kyiv (Ukraine) between Dinamo and Benfica, the 42-year-old mistakenly gave home team’s midfielder Denys Garmash a second yellow card and subsequently a red card.It all sounds swell right? Well the problem is – Garmash did not even collect his first yellow card at that point.Anthony ‘bald’ Taylor, the joke of a referee who gave a ‘second’ yellow and a red to a player who didn’t even get a first…Big disgrace to England in Europe last night…They tot we were biased protesting against his officiating…😡😡😡 pic.twitter.com/RAsqSstPhR— Waky Konah (@WakyKonah) September 15, 2021 The game ended in a goalless draw, with a number of great chances on both ends, but the key talking point was a mishap from Taylor. Garmash protested after he saw colour red in Taylor’s hand and luckily the English umpire realised that he hadn’t previously booked the 31-year-old Ukrainian. Taylor has been FIFA listed since 2013 and has refereed in the Premier League since 2010.Burnley and Arsenal hope Taylor will steer clear from decisions similar to one he made last night, as his next assignment will be the Premier League game on Saturday at Turf Moor.Anthony Taylor will be there but Xhaka is already Suspendedpic.twitter.com/rg3uBivWwX https://t.co/HYFbLs4dsb— Abhi (@meA8hi) September 14, 2021
