On Wednesday evening, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) announced that it had parted ways with the national team head coach, Jacob Ghost Mulee, his assistant Twahir Muhiddin and Hagai Azande. Kenya drew its first two matches of the qualification against Uganda and Rwanda and a section of the supporters immediately called on his sacking. Kenya defeated South Sudan 1-0 before beating Tanzania 2-1 with both games played at the Nyayo National Stadium. He then followed it with a 1-1 draw against Egypt in an AFCON qualifier before beating Togo 2-1 in a dead rubber African tourney qualification match.
