Tusker inebriate Arta Solar to set crunch clash with Zamalek in CAF Champions League

Tusker FC beat Arta Solar 3-0 at Nyayo Stadium to book a second-round CAF Champions League clash against Zamalek FC in October.Shami Mwinyi, Ibrahim Joshua, and Deogratious Ojok scored for Tusker as Diafra Sakha, having played in the English Premier League, blanked.Tusker opened the scoring from the spot through new signing Shami Mwinyi, making his CAF Champions League debut after Ibrahim Joshua was brought down in the box in the third minute prompting the referee to point to the spot.Done and dusted.NDOVU NI KUU! pic.twitter.com/JAD4RHZaQG— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) September 18, 2021 Mwinyi made no mistake when he stepped up to take the resultant spot kick and made no mistake, sending Sulait Luyima the wrong way.Diafra Sahko thought he had drawn his team level 12 minutes into the game but he was ruled offside and his goal cancelled.Mahamoud Elabah had some quick feet and pace on the right, producing a couple of defence-splitting passes but Asike come in handy to clear the threats.In the 23rd minute, Ibrahim rose higher than all Arta Solar’s defenders to head home a Jackson Macharia’s cross and double Tusker’s lead.The second goal was a wake up call to Arta Solar’s coach, prompting him to make change a by introducing Wais Douad for Mohammed Ali shortly after the goal.Tusker became more confident after the second goal and played some beautiful football, threatening to score the third a couple of times.Former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Alex Song Bilong was not on song as expected, and was more often than not arguing with the referee as opposed to playing football.But for a feeble header in the opening stages, former West Ham United forward Diafra Sakho had a very quiet first half, and so did most of Arta Solar’s players, with only Elabeh and Alain Traore showing some spark in the firsf half.On resumption, Arta Solar were resolute on halving the deficit and took the tempo a notch higher.🐘🐘🐘🐘 pic.twitter.com/z7hjwy9kn4— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) September 18, 2021 Tusker however stood firm and absorbed all the pressure, before getting back to their old self and continue their first-half exploits.Thomas Libiih made two more changes for Arta Solar, resting Sakho and Mohamed Aden for Abdoulkader Mourad and Houssein Warsama.Robert Matano responded by bringing in his usual Humphrey Mieno, this time adding John Njuguna in the occasion, for Clyde Senaji and Mwinyi.Matano further threw in Deogratious Ojok to make his debut replacing Inrahim.Ojok repaid Matano’s faith in him as he scored Tusker’s third with his first touch in a competitive match in Tusker’s colors after a good break on the left.It was a performance that Matano will hope that his team replicates in future matches, and more so against Zamalek in October.
