AFC Leopards head coach Patrick Aussems has come out strongly to allay any fears that he has cut short his stay at Ingwe and that he will no longer be with the twelve time champions come the 2020/2021 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season. Two matches before the 2020/2021 campaign came to a complete end back in August, the former Simba boss left the country for his native in Belgium for some holiday. With the new season commencing in just two days and the head coach nowhere to be seen, reports had started to grow wary that the coach might not be back at the den after just being in charge for seven months. The rumors of his exit were fueled even further when Rwanda’s Radio TV10 announced that the head coach was on his way to Rwandan club Police FC.#Kenya: Amakuru ava i Nairobi avuga ko Umubiligi Patrick Aussems” Uchebe” utoza AFC Léopards azasoza shampiyona mu mpera z’iki cyumwerueru ahita agana mu Rwanda muri Police FC.Aussems yatoje Simba SC atwara igikombe cya shampiyona 2018-19 unagera muri 1/4 cya #TOTALCAFCL. pic.twitter.com/eayauShEPE— RadioTv10 Rwanda (@Radiotv10rwanda) August 18, 2021 However, in a tweet on his social media page on Thursday afternoon, the head coach came out guns blazing to refute claims that he has left Ingwe despite the financial and player turmoil the club currently find themselves in. The head coach went on to state that he would be back in the country by next week to take charge of the team once again.“Tired of rumors, fake news. l am a man of my word and despite difficult times for the club, l will be back next week to help Ingwe to become the flagship club of the country again. Tuwe pamoja kufanikisha lengo hili! See you very soon!” he posted.Tired of rumors, fake news … l am a man of my word and despite difficult times for the club , l will be back next week to help INGWE to become the flagship club of the country again. Back in April, the Belgian tactician left for Belgium during the Easter holidays following the suspension of sporting activities in the country back then. When the head coach jets back in, he will have to start from scratch as a host of players have departed the club. First team members Elvis Rupia, Austin Odhiambo, Robinson Kamura, Benjamin Ochan, John Oyemba, Ezekiel Owade, Yusuf Mainge, Tsuma Said, Hansel Ochieng among others have all left the club during the off season transfer window. Due to the FIFA transfer ban that the club is also serving, Ingwe have been unable to make replacements to the departures.See you soon @tusker_fc #OursForever #INGWE pic.twitter.com/O2iV9aJaBr— AFC Leopards (@AFCLeopards) September 21, 2021 Having finished fourth in the 2020/2021 season, Ingwe have a difficult first five fixtures in the opening campaign. They take on reigning champions Tusker in the league opening fixture before making tough trips to last season runners up KCB, then Gor Mahia, then Bandari then Ulinzi Stars.
