Bandari sink Mathare United to the bottom on opening day

Whyvonne Isuza had a dream debut, scoring twice as Bandari beat Mathare United 3-0 to start their FKF Premier League with a win, with Kasumba also being on the score sheet.Coach Andre Casa Mbungo handed two new signings their debut, with Isuza starting in midfield while Rodgers Aloro was among the defenders in a back three. Another new signing, Boniface Mwangemi started off the bench and came on in the latter stages of the game.Bandari opened the scoring just six minutes in the game after Isuza received a perfect ball from Umar Kasumba, then toying with Chrispin Oduor and the custodian before slotting home to give the hosts an early lead.Bandari took total control of the game, with Mathare coming second in everything and seeming unsettled as well as the teams went for the waterbreak, a much needed one for Mathare. As usual, Abdallah Hassan was on top of his game in the wings, dancing past the defenders at will to float in crosses and William Wadri almost doubled Bandari’s advantage but the Ugandan missed. With seven minutes left in the first half, Isuza completed his brace with a well taken goal to extend Bandari’s lead into the break and intensify the halftime pep talk for the visitors.Om resumption, the Slum Boys came with intents of at least pulling one back to get back in the game but it was not to be.Bandari scored the third courtesy of Umar Kasumba after the former Sofapaka man was put through by Isuza just before the stroke of the hour mark.Bandari could have gotten a fourth five minutes later but Isuza failed to convert to complete his hattrick as well as his headed ball from Abdallah’s cross went off the bar.Seeking to seal the game, Mbungo brought in Mwangemi, Atariza Meja, and Johanna Mwita, resting Abdallah, Darius Msagha, and Kasumba.Elsewhere, debutants Vihiga Bullets held Bidco United to a barren draw at Bukhungu Stadium in their first game in the top tier.Collins Neto, who joined Bidco this season, was handed his debut and went on to feature for 73 minutes. The former Zoo forward could have gotten in the score sheet early in the game but his effort went just wide. The results leave Bandari at the summit of the log after the first day of the 2021-22 campaign, with Mathare lying at the bottom, a familiar place for them as they spent much of last season there.Bidco and Bullets take the sixth and seventh places on the log.
