The decision by Kariobangi Sharks to replace their departed arsenals with relatively young players will be put to test by Posta Rangers in the opening match of the 2021 /2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) season at Thika Stadium on Saturday. Coach William Muluya is set to parade a largely new squad against the Mailmen as more than ten of his senior players left the club on various grounds and went on to sign young turks to fill in the voids. Among the priced players who ditched the club is last season’s Most Valuable Player and top scorer Eric Kapaito who left for Ethiopia in search of greener pastures.Despite watching the senior players leave, Muluya who doubles up as one of the Harambee Stars assistant coaches is glad to have retained a sizeable number of experienced players among them is the long-serving Eric Juma and club captain.🗞️| Yesterday we played to a 2-2 draw with Bandari FC in a build up match in preparation for the new season which begins on 25th September.#WeAreSharks #BetwaySharks pic.twitter.com/i3vZ7OOVmu— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) September 19, 2021 Juma who has spent more than ten seasons with the former FKF Cup holders is confident that they will put Rangers to the sword despite the wholesale changes rung in the team. The versatile player who acknowledged that the old guards are the backbone of the team added that the fresh blood had integrated into the team and were hungry enough to maul Rangers. “The exit of the players who were part of the team in the past season will not be felt at all. We have good new young players who are determined to achieve something with the club. I am certain that we will begin well,” he said.Similarly, Rangers captain Joseph Mbugi is hopeful that they will obliterate Sharks and get their campaign with three points as well as revenge last season’s 3-0 second-leg loss. The experienced midfielder said that they had recruited quality players and had a good preseason.🅢🅔🅐🅢🅞🅝 🅞🅟🅔🅝🅔🅡We will start our 2021/2022 season campaign away at Thika against @k_sharksfc 🗓️25.11.21🕒15:15🏟️ Thika stadiumShare your thoughts#WeAreTheMailMen pic.twitter.com/WoRSLHcrLh— Posta Rangers Football Club (@posta_rangers) September 23, 2021 “This time around we did not recruit more than half a dozen players. The coach strengthened the weak areas only. The new players have adapted to our way of playing and have injected energy into the team. The team showed a lot of potential in the friendly matches we played and we will be looking to replicate in the opening match, ” said the former Tusker player.
