Kakamega Homeboyz got off their season to the perfect start as they emerged narrow 1-0 winners against newly promoted Kenya Police FC in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League match played at Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday afternoon.Prior to the two team’s opening league fixture, Police were hoping to emulate, if not better, the results posted by the other new boys in the league where FC Talanta and Vihiga Bullets forced draws against Wazito and Bidco United respectively. However, in the clash that was rescheduled to start from 2PM as opposed to the initial 3PM, a solitary Stephen Opoku strike in the second half is the all important goal that made the difference and condemned the boys in blue to defeat on their top flight debut.Full TimeAnd our 2021/22 season is up and running Homeboyz 1-0 Police Opoku Stephen— Kakamega Homeboyz FC (@FcHomeboyz) September 26, 2021 Homeboyz started the match as they intended to go. Inside ten minutes, the newly Bernard Mwalala coached side knocked on Police’s doors as they got two corners to advance their agenda. With everyone well beaten, David Odhiambo missed a glorious chance to capitalize on that dominance to put his team ahead as he placed his shot inches over the bar in the 13th minute. Lack of clear goalscoring opportunities afterwards saw the two teams get into the half time break with deadlock intact.Just as they started the first half, Homeboyz made a bright start as Christopher Masinza asked questions of the Police goalkeeper with a shot in the 50th minute, but the custodian was upto the task. Opoku finally managed to find the breakthrough in the 67th minute after being set through on goal by Moses Mudavadi. That goal proved to be the significant moment of the match as Homeboyz held on for a winning start to the season.✅| Full TimeKakamega Homeboyz get off their campaign to the perfect start against new boys Kenya Police#HomeboyzVsPolice#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/iG6xz37ear— FKF Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) September 26, 2021
