Mutinda delighted to be back, sets sights on AFC Leopards scalp

Kenyan international Michael Mutinda was delighted to have made a comeback to the KCB lineup in the league opener against Gor Mahia and is now angling for victory against AFC Leopards. The lanky midfielder struggled with a niggly knee injury in the second half of the season and suffered bereavement after the passing of his dad after which he took a hiatus from football.Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Mutinda opened up on his feeling after making a comeback to the field with his last start coming back in August against Vihiga United. FT: Gor Mahia 2 KCB 1 ⚽️ – Benson Omalla with a brace Three important points in the bag 💪💪#Sirkal | #Betsafe pic.twitter.com/16LmhC3ehm— GOR MAHIA FC (@OfficialGMFC) September 25, 2021 “I felt good to return on the pitch because that is the place I want to be and that is where I can develop my talent and I would not want to be out for that long again. Despite the result, it felt nice to be back,”“I was a bit cautious on my return because I did not know how the game would turn out as I had just returned. I lost my dad and also coming back from an injury I did not know if I would return to my best,” said Mutinda. He could not however mark his return with victory as KCB fell 2-1 to Gor Mahia in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) opener. The former Thika United midfield general added that he was elated to come out unscathed in the clash but will maximize on the 18-day league break to pick up their first win of the season against AFC Leopards. ⚽| Full-time@OfficialGMFC start off with a win#GorVsKCB pic.twitter.com/ys6n3Rozjl— FKF Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) September 25, 2021 “When you are in the pitch you feel like your problems have gone to and you are at peace and also happy but the result was not kind to us. I appreciate coming off without an injury,”“I feel its an advantage that we have this break because we have not had good preparations for the season, I returned and trained for one week and faced Gor Mahia but against AFC Leopards we will have more confidence and it will be a good game to start with a win,” added Mutinda. The Bankers host Ingwe at the Utalii Grounds after the international break on Saturday 16 October.
