Mmata vows to fill Kapaito’s shoes

Kariobangi Sharks forward Eric Mmata believes that his combination with Sydney Lokale upfront is good enough to fill the void left by Eric Kapaito. Sharks lost arguably their valued asset in Kapaito who left for greener pastures after agreeing to join the newly-promoted Ethiopian side Arba Minch City FC.Kapaito played a massive role in helping Sharks finish fifth last season, netting 24 goals and setting up five others, a performance that saw him win the season’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award and the ‘Golden Boot’ gong.To plug in the gap left by Kapaito, Sharks raided National Super League (NSL) side Dandora Love for Mmata’s signature and at the same time, integrated Lokale who had been out for months in the team.Eric Mmata gives Sharks the leadAssist by Patillah OmottoSharks 1 Posta Rangers 0— Meshack Kisenge (@kisengemeshack1) September 25, 2021 Mmata who was unveiled hours to their league opener against Posta Rangers took less than twenty minutes to announce his arrival at the club as well as his return to top-flight football, finding the back of the net to give the club maximum points. The forward noted that his partnership with Lokale will be lethal to win matches for the club and fill the gap left by Kapaito.”We are equal to the task and good enough to score goals at will the way Kapaito used to do. It was a great feeling to score on my debut and I am hoping to pick from where I left when the league resumes. Scoring on my first day set a solid base for me to settle in the club and learn their philosophy,” he said.Mmata who hit double digits last season in the second tier in the meantime revealed that he was targeting to score more than twenty goals and bag as many assists. The former Mathare United forward moved to Dandora in February from FC Talanta and helped the former top-flight club retain its status in the NSL.✍🏿| Eric Mmata is the latest Sharkman to arrive.🗞️| The bully forward joins from NSL side Mt.Kenya United(Dandora Love FC)#WeAreSharks #BetwaySharks pic.twitter.com/JierMw8YD1— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) September 24, 2021 Mmata said he was banking on the consistent supply of ammunition from the midfielders to achieve his individual goals in the season.”I have a dream of assisting the club to win titles this season. My primary role will be scoring goals and thus, I believe more than twenty goals will go a long way in delivering the team’s objectives. The team has creative midfielders whom I will be relying on for assists,” he added.
